| Visit from deputation from Scouts/Guides regarding potential Scout HQ on SPC Land at the Red Lion – Howard and Kathryn Wilkinson gave a presentation on the potential Scout Headquarters they would like to have built on the PC land next to the Red Lion. The building would be held in Trust by the Scouts and the Scouts and Guides would be responsible for the funding, building, management and upkeep and the land would be leased from the PC. They have been offered help with the project from a consultant engineer. They talked about the history of Scouting in Shadwell which began in 1929 and talked about Scouting today and the need for a bigger facility to accommodate the number of youths involved and the need for equipment storage space. The building could be used for community use but they would not want to take business away from other buildings in the village. Howard discussed that upon receiving the go ahead from the PC, the next step would be for the Scouts to submit a Planning Application and then work on the funding. It was discussed by the PC that the use of the land depends on concrete proposals from the electorate and this is the only detailed proposal received. The PC would want to store their equipment in the new building and would want the community to be able to use the building.
